Angus Simpson is a professional presenter, journalist and broadcaster. He began his journey in the media in the late seventies, after gaining a journalism qualification at Napier University in Edinburgh. In his first job he graduated to senior reporter at the Alloa Advertiser before moving on to the Greenock Telegraph.
After a few years on the newspapers, Angus joined Border Television as a news producer. This was on the nightly ‘Lookaround’ programme, before becoming the youngest news editor in the ITV network and presenter of the evening news.
In 1986 Angus moved back to Glasgow and became a news reporter, then presenter for Scottish Television’s flagship news programmes. Chosen to launch the station’s ‘Lunchtime Scotland Today’ programme, Angus worked with the production team to build a loyal audience and strong show identity. During his time at Scottish Television honed his presenting skills and watched as the industry moved into the digital age. He also presented and reported for London based GMTV
After a hugely successful period there, Angus sought pastures new and moved back to radio. Here he worked as a news reader on Radio Clyde 2, as well as ‘book-ending’ the weekend scheduling, presenting an early evening show on Fridays and his late night Sunday show. He followed up his stint at Clyde with a move to the popular Saga radio in Glasgow, as presenter/producer. Angus presented the station’s primetime news/music show and consistently increased the audience share. He worked with producers, journalists and researchers on creating news and feature packages and attracting key interviewees and special guests. It was at this time Angus also developed a range of media training programmes for public and private sector organisations. He has produced a number of DVDS for corporate and private clients.
Angus is presently director of GoldStars Media. He specialises in producing PR campaigns, broadcast quality DVD production, project management and communications training. He is also an occasional lecturer in multi-media journalism at Glasgow Caledonian University. Angus Lectures in writing, presentation and communications across all media.
With his long career and background in presenting, Angus is a superb host/presenter for all types of corporate events, charity fund raisers and gala dinners. He is happy to work to a client’s brief and is great at managing the event schedule.
Despite his busy schedule Angus still finds time to work for a number of charities.
