Alex Polizzi is a high profile hotelier/business woman. She is also the presenter of the highly acclaimed, award winning, Channel 5 series ‘The Hotel Inspector’. A popular show which in 2022 was now on it’s seventeenth series. Alex also presented ‘Alex Polizzi – The Fixer’ on BBC 2. This saw Alex helping all types of family businesses become successful and profitable.

The Forte Connection:
Before coming to prominence on television in 2008, Alex, the daughter of an Italian count, was well known within the hotel industry. Her grandfather was Lord Forte, founder of Forte Hotels and her mother, the hotel designer Hon. Olga Polizzi, is also Lord Forte’s daughter and the sister of the legendary Sir Rocco Forte.

Oxford University educated Alex, trained at the prestigious Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong. She then went on to work for Marco Pierre White at London’s Criterion restaurant in Piccadilly. This was before setting off to work at a number of Forte hotels, in cities around the world. She helped start a wholesome, bespoke family bakery, which supplied top name stores such as Harvey Nichols, Fortnum & Mason and Selfridges.

The Polizzi Collection:
After spending a number of years as the Hotel inspector on TV, helping other hoteliers and B&B owners to improve their businesses, Alex temporarily left the show and next to get the Polizzi treatment was the Endsleigh, a Grade 1 listed house on the edge of Dartmoor. The Endsleigh is part of The Pollizi Collection. This consists of three hotels owned by Alex’s mother Olga with the help of her daughters, Alex and Charlie. The Star at Alfriston in East Sussex is run as a partnership between Olga and Alex. The third hotel in the collection is Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall.

The Star was a substantial renovation and in 2021 Channel 5 aired Alex Polizzi: My Hotel Nightmare. This covered Alex and Olga as they worked through numerous set backs along with Covid to get the historic coaching inn with it’s thirty plus bedrooms prepared for opening.

Since The Hotel Inspector, Alex Polizzi has also presented a number of business related TV shows. These include, Alex Polizzi’s Secret Italy in 2014. That same year she hosted a new BBC2 series, Alex Polizzi: Chefs On Trial. Next came Spectacular Spain with Alex Polizzi and Our Dream Hotel, both in 2017.
