As with so many of the UK’s TV stars and hosts working in the 70’s, you started off either as Redcoat (Butlins) or a Bluecoat (Pontins). For Brian it was Pontins and it was here as a teenager, his singing and comedy career took off.  After having fronted a comedy band and being talent spotted by the legendary agent and manager Robert (Bob) Voice, Brian was soon working as a TV warm up man.  By the end of the 80’s Brian was starring in his own show.

Theatre soon followed and by 1992 The Brian Conley show started airing on ITV. It soon became the UK’s most popular TV entertainment show.  In 1994 Brian hosted his first Royal Variety Show.
The show contained a huge list of stars including Bruce Forsyth, Shirley Bassey, Larry Grayson, Terry Wogan and the great Tony Bennett. Take That and Riverdance were also featured that year.  To date Brain has now hosted the show 8 times.

There can be no Buttons without Brian Conley. He’s played the part in Pantomimes twenty two times since he first appeared in Cinderella in Wimbledon in 1990. That’s 34 years and he’s still going strong. 2024 will see Brian at the Hippodrome in Bristol but it’s Goldilocks this time, Buttons is having a break.

Other theatre work has seen Brian in a number of musicals, including Oliver, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Jolson. Having a superb singing voice, Brian has also released a number of albums featuring many songs from the various shows he has appeared in.

In 2021 it was announced, Brain Conley was to appear on Eastenders as one of the Cotton family. This wasn’t Brian’s first time on TV as an actor.  Thirteen years prior, Brian played a part in Last of the Summer Wine with his first acting part on TV going back to 1977.
