Grant Stott is a former Policeman who left in 1990 to begin his career in broadcasting and never looked back in his panda car rear view mirror.  He has since gone on to become a radio and TV presenter, events host and actor. He has also been a regular Panto Villain at The Kings Theatre in Edinburgh.

His radio career started with Radio Forth and he went on to become one of the longest serving and most recognised voices of the station during his 27 year association with the station.  In 2017 he left Forth and shortly after joined BBC Radio Scotland. It was in 2018 when he took over as the regular host of the Wednesday and Thursday editions of The Afternoon Show. In 2021 he had to step back from the show when he joined BBC Scotland drama “River City”. Here he played Sam Spiller during which he remained behind the decks for his popular Vinyl Collective every Friday evening on BBC Radio Scotland.

Grant Stott has appeared in a number of short films and also played Captain Freeman in series 4 of “Outlander”.

As a performer on stage, Grant’s panto career began in 1993. After working with Allan Stewart and Andy Gray separately; 2000 was the first year all three appeared together. Their incredible run of working together had now began.  This led to Grant teaming up with Andy for a run of successful outings performing at the Edinburgh Fringe. Shows included Fringe First winning “Kiss Me Honey, Honey”, “Double Feature” and his own sold out one man show “Grant Stott’s Tales From Behind The Mic”.  He also worked with Allan on each of his “Big Big Variety Shows”. In 2016 the three teamed up away from Panto to tour the play, “Canned Laughter”.

Before Andy sadly died in 2021, Grant, Andy and Alan McHugh had started work on a play called “Chemo Savvy”. The play was based on Andy’s own experiences through his journey with cancer.  Sadly Andy didn’t live to perform the play as he planned but in 2024, Grant teamed up with Jordan Young and Gail Watson to stage it at the Gilded Balloon for a limited 11 show run as a tribute to Andy and this give him one last sold out run at the Fringe.

This year’s Panto “Jack and The Beanstalk” will be Grant’s 31st Panto – and his 27th Kings Edinburgh Panto albeit at it’s temporary home of The Festival Theatre!

In 2025, Grant and Allan were thrilled to be awarded “Lifetime Achievement Awards”> This was by the Scottish Music Hall and Variety Theatre Society. It was in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Scottish entertainment. Following this, a cross party Congratulatory Motion was made at City of Edinburgh Council to Allan and Grant in recognition of their award.

Now one of the most popular hosts for awards and charity events. Grant himself received a Big Hearted Scotland – Entertainer of the Year award.  He hosted at huge public concerts such as, Live And Loud at Hampden and The Concert In The Gardens.  He would broadcast from Princes Street Gardens at Hogmanay, counting down to midnight in front of 100,000 people.  Barring the Covid years, Grant has done this almost every year since 2000.

Grant Stott’s corporate work includes dinners and events across Scotland. Award ceremonies have included The Radio Forth Awards and The Edinburgh Evening News Business Excellence Awards. He has also hosted The IOD Director Of The Year Awards plus The Young Edinburgh Awards. Latterly he has also undertaken duties in a number of high profile Burns Suppers.

He is a former Corporate Match-day host at Hibernian Football Club.

Interests include watching Hibs, eating Chinese food and collecting Dean Martin records although not necessarily in that order!
