The Jeremy Kyle Show:
The show was a talk show which ITV first aired in 2005. It fast became the most popular daytime show on ITV with audiences in excess of a million. Often controversial the show invited guests to lay bear their personal problems on air, where Jeremy attempted to resolve the issues. Often Jeremy would use a lie detector while a resident psychotherapist helped guests during and often after the show had ended. It was often volatile and Jeremy pulled no punches in offering his own opinions. The show went on for 14 years until it was cancelled in 2019 after a former guest committed suicide.
Radio:
Jeremy started his presenting career in the 90’s. He joined Birmingham Broadcasting (BRMB) presenting the radio shows Late & Live and Jezza’s Jukebox which won a Sony Award. This is where Jeremy’s premiere Agony Uncle status began. In 2002, he was with Virgin Radio with his late evening show, Jezza’s Virgin Confessions. This was to be Jeremy’s home for the next year, after which he joined Capital FM in London. A new show but with a familiar theme, calls live on air discussing issues, mainly in relationships. It was called Capital Confessions and within a year the Jeremy Kyle Show was born and was now broadcasting on ITV.
The slogan ‘You’ll find it hard NOT to listen’ became synonymous with Jeremy Kyle and his show over the years.
