Johnny Vaughan is one of the UK’s best known and well loved broadcasters. Since the start of his career he has risen through the ranks across the media industry with his television, radio and comedy writing. He also had weekly columns for the biggest daily newspapers in the country.
In 1994 Channel 4 first recognized his TV potential and gave him a slot hosting the cult show Moviewatch. This was followed by his own weekly chat show, Here’s Johnny. His first major role was presenting The Big Breakfast. Here his madcap humour and also his on-air chemistry with Denise Van Outen, helped restore viewing figures. At the same time Johnny earned critical acclaim.
In 2003 Johnny Vaughan was recruited by BBC3 to help launch the channel. This was a unique 2-year deal, giving him the freedom to work across a range of different projects.
In 2004 Johnny made a return to writing comedy with his dope drama – Top Buzzer.
His production company Worlds End is constantly thriving. They have had success with a number of well known names, including Katie Brand on ITV.
Johnny Vaughan is best known as the host of the Capital Radio Breakfast show. He continues to enjoy a career in television and radio, having presented as a team captain on ‘The Best of the Worst’. He was also presenter of Car of The Year for the Dave Channel.
Johnny followed the Society of Thames Mudlarks as they embarked on a number of Thames riverside digs using metal detectors to locate archaeological treasures in Mud Men for the History Channel.
Johnny currently hosts ‘The Johnny Vaughan 4 to 7 Thang‘ Podcast on Radio X. Radio X is also where Johnny hosts a Saturday morning football show ‘The Kickabout’.
