Matt Frei is a renowned journalist, foreign correspondent, and award-winning broadcaster. He presents Channel 4 News, serves as Europe Editor, and hosts an influential LBC radio show. With over three decades of experience, Matt has reported from more than 40 countries, covering global affairs with clarity and authority.

Matt Frei is the only journalist to have served as Washington Correspondent for both Channel 4 and the BBC. His expertise spans politics, conflict reporting, and investigative journalism. His frontline coverage includes major geopolitical crises, from the Russo-Ukrainian war to the Gaza conflict.

Career Highlights
Matt began at BBC World Service, working in the German section before transitioning to English-language current affairs. In 1989, he reported on the first Intifada in Jerusalem, then became Bonn Correspondent on the day the Berlin Wall fell.

As BBC Southern Europe Correspondent (1992-1996), Matt covered critical events in Bosnia, Kosovo, and North Africa. Later, he reported extensively across Asia, based in Hong Kong and Singapore.

From 2002, Matt became BBC Washington Correspondent, later hosting BBC World News America and Radio 4’s Americana. He contributed to flagship programs like Newsnight and The News at Six.
