Email Agent of Murdo MacLeod

Murdo MacLeod is a Scottish former professional footballer, manager and football pundit who is now an engaging after-dinner and keynote speaker. Known for his leadership, resilience and elite sporting experience, his biggest achievement was winning multiple league titles with Celtic and representing Scotland at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

Murdo MacLeod was born in Glasgow in 1958 and began his football journey with Dumbarton F.C. in the mid-1970s, where he quickly established himself as a talented midfielder. His performances earned him selection for the Scottish League side in 1978, which led to a major transfer to Celtic F.C. later that year. Moving to one of Scotland’s biggest clubs was a defining moment in his early career, exposing him to top-level competition, intense rivalries and the pressure of performing in front of large crowds. These early experiences shaped his professionalism, work ethic and leadership style, which later became central themes in his speaking engagements.

During his nine years at Celtic, MacLeod enjoyed tremendous success, winning four Scottish league titles, two Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup. He famously scored a decisive goal against Rangers that helped secure the 1979 league championship, a goal later voted the greatest Old Firm goal by Celtic supporters. He later moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he won the German Cup and Super Cup in 1989, before returning to Scotland to captain Hibernian F.C. to Scottish League Cup victory in 1991. Internationally, he earned 20 caps for Scotland national football team and represented his country at the 1990 World Cup. After retiring as a player, he moved into coaching and management, leading Dumbarton to promotion and later becoming assistant manager at Celtic, where he helped the club win a league and cup double in the 1997–98 season.

As a keynote speaker, Murdo MacLeod shares powerful insights into leadership, teamwork, high-performance culture, resilience and performing under pressure. Drawing on his experiences in elite sport, management and media, he offers audiences practical lessons on motivation, handling setbacks, working as a team and maintaining standards in competitive environments. His stories from dressing rooms, major finals and international tournaments bring humour, honesty and real-life lessons that resonate with corporate audiences, sports organisations and leadership teams. Event organisers book Murdo because he combines sporting success with relatable life lessons, making his talks both entertaining and meaningful, leaving audiences inspired to improve performance, teamwork and leadership within their own organisations.
