Impressionist, Hosts ‘One Question’ On Radio 4 & Team Captain on ‘The Imitation Game’
Rory Bremner is an Impressionist and one of sharpest and best known in the UK. Born in Edinburgh on 6th April 1961, Rory shares a birthday with lan Paisley and Paul Daniels. (Oh dear).
He started out on the cabaret circuit in London and Edinburgh, doing lectures by day and stand-up comedy at night before graduating to the radio satire shows News Revue (LBC) and Week Ending for the BBC.
TELEVISION:
He first appeared on national television on The Tube in 1984 and after guesting on the Central TV series And There’s More, he had his own series on BBC2 for seven years. In 1993 he moved to Channel 4, since when his show Rory Bremner – Who Else? won over ten major awards, including BAFTAs for himself and his fellow writer/performers John Bird and John Fortune. The show went on to be purely political satire and was renamed Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
The move to Channel 4 reflected an appetite for new challenges. These included the award winning Arms to Iraq analysis and Scott of the Arms Antics. He also made documentaries on Winchester and Dame Edna Everage, hosted a cricket chat show and played a straight role in the drama You, Me and It.
GUESTING:
2003 saw Rory take the wheel, as the “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” in Top Gear. Rory frequently guests on quiz programmes, including, Have I Got News For You, QI, Mock The Week and others too numerous to mention.
Rory currently hosts his own quiz show, One Question, on Radio 4.
2013 saw Rory present on ITV Daytime, Rory Bremner’s Great British Views. Rory travelled around the country in his Morgan car, seeking out some of the most picturesque scenery in the UK.
