Samantha Simmond’s first taste of being in front of the camera’s took place while she was a student at Liverpool University she was chosen to appear on Cilla Black’s ‘Blind Date‘. Although she failed to meet ‘Mr Right’ she did use her date in Italy to grill the production staff as to the inner workings of TV production. Already writing for the University paper this gave her a great insight into the world of TV. Not long after she secured her first work experience for Yorkshire TV’s nightly news programme ‘Calendar’. From then on she was hooked – loving the adrenalin and pressure of live TV. Samantha Simmonds is a newsreader now meeting new and fascinating people every day, from all walks of life.

Samantha made her name as a main presenter for Sky News where she was an anchor for more than a decade. While there she covered some huge stories. These included the murder of the MP Jo Cox, the EU referendum, numerous general elections and the Queen’s 90th birthday. A memorable one, was being the first UK broadcaster to break the story of the death of Michael Jackson. It was a story that truly shook the world.

Currently on air with the BBC, Samantha Simmonds has her own programme presenting the weekly current affairs show ‘Politics London‘ on BBC 1. She loves the opportunity to tell Londoners’ stories and grill politicians on what they are doing to work for their constituents and of course the country.

Samantha Simmonds is a host and regular presenter on BBC World News. She covers all the latest international events and breaking news stories. World News has a global reach of 456million adults every week. She also presents BBC news business programmes and bulletins including the BBC 1 early morning Breakfast briefing. She has also hosted a BBC Radio 4 series ‘One to One’ about sibling rivalry. This was something she has to deal with with her three children on a daily basis! Samantha has also written for the national press about the joys and challenges of parenting.

She has hosted her own podcast ‘It’s a Grown up Life‘ about the joys and challenges of being a mid life woman – talking openly and frankly about her own life and family. Samantha has also hosted a podcast for the National Grid ‘The Future of Energy.

Samantha has a reputation for bringing personality, energy, warmth and humour to corporate and motivational events she hosts or speaks at. Samantha’s conference hosting includes comparing the Qatar-UK business investment forum. This was alongside the British and Qatari Prime Ministers. Also the regional investment fund forum for the Department of International Trade. She has also moderated and hosted events around the world. Those were for companies including Verizon, Sainsbury’s, Deloitte, Hewlett Packard, and Manpower Group.
