Ray Eitel-Porter is a globally recognised voice on responsible artificial intelligence, best known for serving as the former Global Head of Responsible AI at Accenture. He later became CEO of On Board Info before joining Accenture in 2013, where he led major analytics and AI transformation projects across industries. From 2017 to 2020, Ray served as Managing Director of Applied Intelligence for the UK and Ireland, helping organisations unlock commercial value from advanced technologies while managing operational risk. He then became Global Head of Responsible AI, overseeing ethical AI frameworks at a global scale. Alongside his corporate leadership, Ray chaired the UK Government’s Data Skills Taskforce and collaborated with institutions including the Alan Turing Institute, Stanford, MIT and Oxford.
An accomplished author and researcher, Ray wrote the influential book ‘Governing the Machine’ and later published ‘In Machines We Trust’ in 2025. His academic and industry thought leadership includes the widely cited paper ‘Beyond the Promise: Implementing Ethical AI’, published in the Journal of AI Ethics.
