Scottish Multi-Medal Winning Paralympic Cyclist, Winner of 4 World Championship Golds & OBE Recipient
Aileen McGlynn OBE has a passion for cycling and a drive to be the best. She is one of Scotland’s most successful Paralympians, having won 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medals at the last 4 Paralympic Games. She has also won 4 World Championship Golds.
In a career which has spanned more than 15 years, Aileen along with her tandem pilot Ellen Hunter, were the first women ever to win a Gold medal in Cycling for Great Britain in either the Olympics or the Paralympics.
In July 2006, Aileen received the MBE from the Queen for Services to Cycling for the Disabled and she was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Year Honours List.
At age 48, Aileen reunited with her former pilot Helen Scott in July 2021 to take silver at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics where she recorded a personal best. Later at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Aileen and Helen won both a silver and a bronze medal in tandem events.
