ITV News Anchor, Presents ITV ‘Wales at Six’, Hosted the ‘Miscarriage: The Hidden Loss’ Documentary, Author of ‘Desperate Rants and Magic Pants‘ & Award Host
Andrea Byrne is a familiar face on television and a current news presenter with ITV. She presents Wales at Six with fellow presenter Jonathan Hill. Wales at Six is a BAFTA award winning programme, offering up to date news from all over Wales. Andrea is also known for presenting other news programmes. These include, ITV’s Weekend News, the Lunchtime News, the Evening News and also ITV’s News at Ten. She was also a regular guest reporter on Daybreak with Kate Garraway and Matt Barbet.
During her time with ITV, Andrea Byrne has interviewed numerous names from Royalty to Politics, to Sport and Media. These have included Prince Harry, David Cameron and Dynamo, to name a few.

Andrea also presents the current affairs programme Wales This Week and writes a regular column on motherhood for Cardiff Life magazine. She is an Ambassador for ‘Women in Wales’ and ‘The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme’ and a Trustee for the organ donation charity, ‘Believe’.
Miscarriage: The Hidden Loss is a documentary presented by Andrea Byrne in 2023 on ITV Wales This Week. Andrea talks about her own journey of pregnancy and loss, in order to raise awareness. The programme was nominated for a Wales Media Award with The Journalist’s Charity. It also won Best Factual in Wales at Royal Television Society awards.
In 2022 Andrea partnered up with the journalist and producer Chris Rogers to appear on a special news edition of Pointless Celebrities with Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman. Other guests on the TV quiz show included Michael Buerk, Juliet Mann, John Sergeant and Gavin Ramjaun.

Recently, they spoke publicly about their long fertility journey to have their daughter, Jemima which led to Andrea launching a fertility podcast called ‘Making Babies’, to encourage awareness and help people feel less isolated. The podcast ran for 14 episodes between 2020 and 2022 and featured a number of well known guests.

A book is due to be published in 2024 called Desperate Rants and Magic Pants. Here Andrea tells her and Lee’s fertility story. She hopes to help those struggling with infertility feel less isolated but also help those around them know how to support better.
The Armed Forces:
Andrea also produced a series of special reports on the Royal Air Force. She reported on Chinook helicopter pilots who were training at RAF Odiham. This was before they were posted to Afghanistan. The programme was then broadcast nationally on ITV. It was then a runner-up in the regional Royal Television Society awards.
Andrea Byrne is passionate about wellbeing. She also pioneered the introduction of Mental Health First Aiders in ITV’s newsrooms. Away from the newsroom, she is a keen yogi, a novice stand-up paddle-boarder and a budding novelist!
