Captain Anthony Harris is a former British Army officer, inspirational speaker and one of the founding members of the groundbreaking initiatives Race2Recovery and Row2Recovery. A decorated serviceman and survivor of a life-changing injury sustained in Afghanistan, Anthony has shown extraordinary courage and determination in redefining what is possible after trauma. Credentials and Impact

Anthony began his military career at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2001, just two days before the 9/11 attacks, which marked the beginning of a new era in global conflict. Commissioned into The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, he served two tours in Belfast before being deployed to Basra in 2005 and later to Sangin, Helmand Province, in 2009 with the 2 Rifles. During this deployment, his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, throwing him twenty metres from the blast and shattering both feet. Facing devastating injuries, Anthony made the courageous decision to have his left leg amputated below the knee.

Refusing to let adversity define him, he co-founded Race2Recovery—a team of injured servicemen who became the first disabled group to complete the gruelling Dakar Rally in 2013. He also helped establish Row2Recovery, a record-setting Atlantic rowing challenge that raised over £1 million for Help for Heroes. His efforts have been recognised nationally for their impact on veterans’ rehabilitation and public awareness of resilience after injury.
