Former STV’s Political Editor & Special Correspondent
Bernard Ponsonby is a broadcaster and journalist with over thirty years experience. He is the recently retired Special Correspondent for STV having served as the stations Political Editor for two decades.
Bernard has interviewed six UK Prime Minister’s and all of Scotland’s First Minister’s. He has even thrown a question to an American President.
Bernard has also worked as a Reporter in the field, a Presenter in a studio environment and election anchor for over a quarter of a century. He writes extensively for online and has been twice the recipient of the Royal Television Society’s (Scotland) Journalist of the Year Award.
With excellent skills in chairing conferences, conducting interviews and analysing events, Bernard Ponsonby is a superb option. His skills can help give formal conferences an edge in discussing public policy issues.
He also has a rich fund of anecdotes from being at the sharp end of the news agenda which would enliven any after dinner speech. Since retirement in 2024 Bernard is planning to do more writing and we think a book is imminent, so watch this space. In the meantime, Bernard has more time to consider corporate work. He has always been in demand for his expert facilitation and hosting skills at conferences. We are also now open to enquiries for Bernard to speak after dinner, a skill he developed in the 90’s.
