Former STV News Presenter, Principal Presenter With The Al Jazeera Network & Broadcaster with The Blue Ocean Network

Halla Mohieddeen is a journalist. She returned to the UK after 3 years travelling between Doha in Qatar and Glasgow.  This was due to having taken up the position in 2019 of Principal Presenter at the Al Jazeera Media Network.

Born in Scotland, Halla is an award nominated, media and communications professional. She has well over ten years experience in the UK, The Middle East, France and also China. Halla speaks French, German and Mandarin Chinese. She has specialist knowledge of International affairs, Scottish and British politics, also marine and environmental conservation, and Chinese politics and society.

She returned to Scotland in 2016 after working in Paris with 24-hour international news channel, France 24. It was here Halla anchored the channel’s live news bulletins. She covered breaking news, and produced content for broadcast. In Scotland she took over as the main News Presenter on STV where she received as RTS Scotland nomination. In 2019 she then moved to Al Jazeera as their main presenter where she also worked for three years.

Halla is a PADI Divemaster, she also once modelled hats.

Halla Mohiedden started out her broadcast career in China. She was at Beijing’s largest English-language Lifestyle and Entertainment magazine, editing two of the magazine’s largest sections. She was also a regular contributor to the magazine’s blog and during this time, she freelanced as a fashion writer.

For over five years Halla became the main weather presenter on CCTV News. This is China’s leading English-language news channel, broadcasting to over 85 million viewers worldwide. She was one of the best known presenters in the world. Unfortunately, she was almost totally unheard of outside of the Chinese community. During this time, she represented the China Meteorological Administration at the Shanghai Expo. At the Expo, Halla’s face was printed on a stamp. She also compared at a colleague’s traditional Chinese wedding dressed in a traditional Peking Opera costume.

Halla worked as a producer, presenter and journalist at fledgling TV channel Blue Ocean Network (BON). This privately-owned network broadcast programming about China to the US and also Canada.
