JJ Chalmers hasn’t always been a TV and Radio Presenter.  Prior to that, he was a Royal Marines Commando with the rank of Lance Corporal.   It was in 2011 whilst JJ was serving on active duty in Afghanistan, when his patrol was blown up by an IED. He suffered life threatening injuries and lost two of his comrades.

After a long and painful road to recovery, JJ Chalmers decided to enter the Invictus Games. This was in 2014, he won a gold and two bronze medals in running and cycling. It was not long after, JJ was invited by Channel 4 to present their coverage of National Paralympic Day.  JJ Chalmers was beginning to be a regular face on our screens. A new media career had begun.

Calls with offers of  presenting roles were starting to arrive and in 2016, JJ was back at the Invictus games, this time as an Ambassador and also as part of the BBC’s coverage team.  A new and exciting career in broadcasting was just around the corner.

Channel 4 invited JJ to cover the Paralympics in 2016 in Rio de Janiro. He also appeared on Adam Hill’s The Last Leg.

JJ Chalmers is now a regular part of the BBC’s sports presenting team. He has presented on all the Invictus games since 2016.  Both the London Marathon and the Commonwealth games saw JJ presenting and he has since moved over to presenting on programmes like BBC Breakfast and The One Show.

Being a Scot it was only a matter of time before he was to appear on a BBC Scotland programme. In 2022 he started work on a new 8 part series called Scotland’s Greatest Escape, due to air in 2023.  He has been joined by Scot Squad and Two Doors Down actor and professional wrestler, Graeme Stevely, known in wrestling circles as Grado.  JJ is the presenter and Grado will be visiting the holiday destinations to ascertain which is the best.
