Luke Donald OBE is an English professional golfer, former world number one and one of the most accomplished players of his generation. Renowned for his precision, consistency and calm leadership, Luke made golfing history in 2011 by becoming the first player to win both the PGA Tour money list and the European Tour Race to Dubai in the same season. Turning professional in 2001, Luke secured his first PGA Tour victory at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic in 2002 before adding European Tour titles at the Scandinavian Masters and Omega European Masters in 2004. His defining campaign came in 2011, when victories at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, BMW PGA Championship, Barclays Scottish Open and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic propelled him to world number one. He reclaimed the top ranking in 2012 and continued adding international victories before embarking on a hugely successful leadership career as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain, leading the team to victory in 2023 before being reappointed for the 2025 and 2027 contests.

Luke’s achievements have earned widespread recognition throughout world golf. Alongside 17 professional victories worldwide, he has won the Byron Nelson Award, Vardon Trophy, PGA Tour Player of the Year and European Tour Golfer of the Year honours. In 2026, he was appointed OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to golf, recognising his outstanding contribution to the sport and his influence on European golf.
