Journalist, Monthly Columnist, Disability Campaigner, Produced a BBC Documentary Titled ‘Paralympics the Pride of Scotland’, Podcast Host, Actor & Motivational Speaker

Michael McEwan is a Scottish freelance Journalist and disability campaigner who has Cerebral Palsy. He has been commissioned for features on BBC Scotland’s The Nine show and also for STV. More recently, he did a piece for Reporting Scotland. He also produces and hosts a football show on youtube call the Scottish football zone where he discusses the big issues in Scottish football and previews the weekend’s games. 

Michael also co-hosts a monthly current affairs and sport podcast called News Bites Scotland. 

In 2022 he did a Documentary for BBC Radio Scotland called Paralympics the pride of Scotland. In it Michael interviewed some of the athletes going from Scotland to represent Team GB at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Currently, Michael McEwan writes a monthly column for the Barrhead News. Other titles he also writes for include The Scotsman, The Times and The National. He has also written for Health and Care Scotland, The List Magazine and Glory. He also hosts an online sports show.

Apart from Michael McEwan’s journalism work, he is also a popular speaker on the barriers people with disabilities still face in society today.

Michael was invited by a Scottish Charity to do a number of talks all over the country on his own personal journey of living and working with a disability. He fully understands and promotes, in the workplace how much more work is needed to create awareness of employees abilities, with less focus on disabilities.

Michael hosts his own podcast. He talks on a number of subjects and often focuses on the public’s awareness of disability issues.

He is both motivational and inspirational, talking about the challenges and stigma faced. Michael McEwan opens up about his experiences in his journey getting into employment as someone with a learning disability, and how he overcame this.
