Stand-Up Comedian, Ventriloquist, BBC New Comedy Award Winner, Edinburgh Fringe Performer & Corporate Comedy Entertainer

Nina Conti ventriloquist started doing stand-up back in 2002. She shot to fame by winning the BBC New Comedy Award that same year. Famed for her foul-mouthed ‘sidekick’ Monkey (Monk), Nina has won numerous comedy awards for her writing, acting and also ventriloquism.

Nina regularly headlines at UK and London comedy venues, and has appeared at The Comedy Store and also the Soho Theatre. Nina often takes her shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has appeared at both the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and also the Montreal Comedy Festival.

Nina Conti ventriloquist took her first solo full length show, Complete and Utter Conti to Edinburgh in 2007.  The show went on to win the prestigious BARRY Award in 2008 at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. The following year, Nina also took a new show, Evolution, to the 2008 Edinburgh Festival. This proved to be a massive sell out. Nina’s 2010 show, Talk to the Hand introduced brand new puppets. It was also another hit show for the full run of the Edinburgh Fringe that year.

Nina’s radio work includes four series of Claire in the Community. This was a BBC Radio 4 Sony-Award winning series, which she featured in for four years.

Nina also starred in Sneekiepeeks, Harry Venning’s and Neil Brand’s 2010 BBC Radio 4 Comedy. This was about a team of inept, backstabbing surveillance operatives. Nina has appeared in several television shows. These include Comic Relief, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away and Golf War for E4. Also, Blunder on Channel 4, The Late Late Show, One Free Hand for BBC and Tickled Pink for ITV. Others include ITV’s Single and the BAFTA-winning Black Books for Ch4. More recently Nina has also been on The Rob Brydon Show on BBC2.

Nina Conti ventriloquist has fronted two documentaries for BBC 4.  A Ventriloquists Story: Her Masters Voice, saw her taking the bereaved puppets of her mentor and erstwhile lover Ken Campbell on a pilgrimage to Vent Haven. For the second, Make Me Happy: A Monkey’s Search for Happiness, Nina took Monk on a journey into the world of new age and alternative therapies. Alongside her live and broadcast work, Nina is an experienced and extremely popular corporate comedy act.

Nina has performed after-dinner cabaret with Monk and also her other puppets for corporate clients. Clients as varied as Nokia, Caspian Publishing, AAH Pharmaceuticals and Jardine Lloyd Thompson. Also Incisive Media, the DRP group, and Euromoney. Also, not to mention countless individual private parties. Nina’s sophisticated intelligence and playful style suits a wide range of corporate audiences.  Her puppet Monk can be as clean or as rude as each client wishes!

2022 saw Nina Conti ventriloquist back at the Edinburgh Fringe with her new show, The Dating Show. Nina has been a regular performer at the Fringe now for over 20 years with her first show in 2001.
