Peter Beardsley is a former England international and one of the most technically gifted forwards of his generation. Peter began his senior career at Carlisle United in 1978, helping the side to promotion with 22 goals in 104 league games. His quick feet and incisive passing made him a favourite on Tyneside, and after four seasons, he transferred to Liverpool for a record £1.9 million in 1987. At Anfield, Peter formed a legendary partnership with John Barnes, scoring 59 goals in 175 appearances and contributing to the club’s trophy-winning years.

He later played for Everton, Bolton and returned to Newcastle, closing out a career that saw him tally 238 goals in 799 matches. On the international stage, Peter won 59 England caps, representing his country at two World Cups. After retiring, he remained in the game through coaching roles, including with Newcastle’s academy, developing the next generation of footballers.

Peter authored his autobiography ‘Peter Beardsley: My Life Story’, published in 1995 with Bob Cass, offering a candid reflection on his career at club and international level. Beyond writing, he has contributed regularly to the media, appearing on Sky Sports and BT Sport as a pundit, and featuring on radio programmes where he shares insights on his playing days and the evolution of football. His thoughtful analysis and engaging storytelling continue to make him a respected voice in the sport.
