Rhona Howie (Martin) MBE is an Olympic Gold Medallist former curler from Ayrshire in Scotland now turned BBC broadcaster.   She was skipper to the GB curling team and was also a head curling coach for Scotland.

Rhona famously captained the team at Salt Lake City and threw the ‘stone of destiny’ which decided the gold. Rhona Howie (Martin) MBE carried the London 2012 Olympic torch, she was a competitive Curler for over 20 years at Scottish and also GB level and retired in 2007.  Since then she was part of the BBC commentary team at the 2018 Winter Olympics

In 2012 Rhona was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.

Under Rhona Howie’s (Martin) guidance, the team clinched the gold medal, marking a historic moment in British curling history. Her curling career began at the age of 16, and she quickly rose through the ranks, achieving success in junior competitions.
