TV Presenter Known As The Former Host Of ‘Soccer AM’ & Channel 5’s ‘Fifth Gear’, & Presenter of Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ & ‘BT Sports Panel’

Tim Lovejoy is 5ft 11 so don’t believe him when he tells you he’s 6ft 2, eyes of blue. He’s a massive Chelsea fan, and has racked up some notable achievements. Famously he got the word ‘boucebackability‘ introduced into the Oxford English Dictionary he has also beaten Gazza at table tennis and has been threatened by superstar rapper Eminen!

After he worked in music as a merchandise manager for touring bands Tim began his television career as a covering VJ for the MTV channel. This was before joining Planet 24 where he worked as a researcher for The Big Breakfast and then went on to produce the show. Until now Tim has probably been known best as the presenter of the Saturday morning show Soccer AM on Sky Sports. Tim enjoyed a unique position at Sky Sports as the only producer-presenter, to combine both roles.

Fifth Gear:

in 2006 Tim joined Vicki Butler-Henderson as the co-host on Ch 5 flag ship show Fifth Gear. It was a 13 part series which saw Tim driving some fantastic motors and interviewing the likes of Al Gore and Lily Allen about their love of cars. Although Tim admits he doesn’t know how engines work, he makes up for it with enthusiasm and a love for cars. He fondly remembers the thrill of a blast in a Lotus Elise!

With Soccer AM co-host Helen Chamberlain, Tim conducted three hours of football-related lunacy that attracted a cult following. They had a diverse list of high profile guests and a permanent place in modern football culture. So much so, Universal Video released a Best Of Soccer Am DVD. It went straight into the DVD charts at NO 1 in the Sports field. Beating the likes of David Seaman and Jimmy Nesbit. The success of this was repeated with the Best of Soccer AM II.

Soccer AM saw the worlds of showbiz and football overlap with hilarious consequences on the famous orange sofa. This was where celebrities revealed their football allegiances and players revealed their suspect middle names. The likes of Stan Collymore, Robbie Fowler and Paul Gascoigne sat alongside Nicholas Parsons, Noel Gallagher and Chris Evans.

Guests included renowned English actor Jude Law, Mission Impossible star Dougray Scott and boxer Audley Harrison. There was also rugby union stars Matt Dawson and Phil Greening.

Sky:

Tim joined Sky Sports at the beginning of the 1996-97 season. In the early years he spent time combining his busy television schedule with his award winning music show on London’s XFM radio. Since the birth of his twin daughters he gave up the radio show to spend more time concentrating on television. Although, he thoroughly enjoyed his brief stint on Virgin radio in 2005.

In 2004 Tim presented his own ten part entertainment chat show on Sky One. Entitled Tim Lovejoy and The Allstars it was a live one-hour show featuring the best in music and entertainment. Guests included Tracey Emin, Simon Le Bon, Noel Gallagher, Martin Kemp, Johnny Vegas and bands such as Placebo, Travis, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Baby Shambles, The Cure and The Happy Mondays.

2006 saw a very busy year from Tim as he celebrated the 10th year of Soccer AM. He also found time to interview David Beckham in an exclusive documentary on the life and career of the England football captain for ITV. Tim also had a regular column in The Guardian newspaper reporting on the 2006 World Cup. Soccer Am The Music Album was also released by Universal Music. Latter Soccer AM III DVD was released.

After leaving Fifth Gear, Tim agreed to present a new live show on BBC called Something For The Weekend. The show was a big departure for Tim as it featured lots of cooking, something Tim knew nothing about. Although, he always looked forward to eating the results!

In 2012 Tim started hosting Channel4’s morning show Sunday Brunch. Later in 2013 he was back in soccer mould and hosting BT Sports Panel on Saturday mornings.  He also has a popular podcast (Soccer A-Z) which he co-hosts with his former Soccer AM partner Helen Chamberlain.
