Graeme Stevely Grado which is his ring name is known for BBC Scotland’s Scot Squad. He was a Scottish professional wrestler, best known for his work with Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW). He was also a contestant on the second season of TNA British Boot Camp. Alsom he is a former PWE World Heavyweight Champion.

However, Grado is also a well known Scottish actor known as PC Hugh McKirdy the character he plays alongside fellow actor Manjot Sumal (PC Surjit Singh) in the hugely popular Scottish sitcom, Scot Squad.  He also plays the part of Alan in the hugely popular Two Doors Down The acting credits on Two Doors Down go to Graeme Stevely (Grado).

Grado first came to prominence in 2012 as the breakout star of an online documentary, The British Wrestler. He immediately caught the eye of the BBC who made Grado the focus of their 2014 documentary, Insane Fight Club which was shown throughout the UK and on Netflix.  In 2015 as Grado’s popularity grew and grew, he signed for American Wrestling company TNA/Impact Wrestling.  He has since performed all over the world, including in The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, The Wembley Arena and The Manchester Arena.

A move across to acting beckoned. Graeme Stevely Grado joining as a regular on the very popular Scot Squad on BBC Scotland. He then did a stint on River City, the long-running BBC drama.  Grado also appeared in one off comedy specials Scotland in A Day on Ch4 and The Sunny on BBC Scotland. He also was in BBC’s Don’t Drop the Baton alongside Susan Calman.  He is now a regular cast member on BBC Scotland’s Two Doors Down.

On New Year’s Eve 2016 and 30 years after it was last broadcast, ITV brought back World of Sport Wrestling for a one off special.  Grado triumphed, taking home the World Title!  Later in 2016 Grado took his one man comedy show IT’S MASEL to The King’s Theatre in Glasgow. It proved to be a smash hit with audiences.

Grado joined the cast of the wildly successful BBC comedy Two Doors Down in series 3. He’s been there ever since. Another stage show quickly followed, Summer of 69 at the Pavilion in Glasgow. This was as well as spots for LadBible.  He was also back at the Pavilion for the annual pantomime.  Series 8 of Scot Squad was the last on which aired in 2023

His most recent TV work was “Scotland’s Greatest Escape” (BBC Scotland). The first series aired in 2023 and featured Grado and JJ Chalmers as they explored Scotland’s most unforgettable getaways. Series 2 and 3 aired in 2024 and 2025, this time featuring Grado and BBC Scotland’s resident weather presenter, Judith Ralston.
