Email Agent of Sean Batty

Sean Batty is a weather presenter of STV’s (Scottish Television) weather. He was born in Paisley in the early eighties. He finished school at 18 and went on to study meteorology at Reading University.

Sean’s first job in meteorology was with the Met Office (UK’s National Weather Service) as a weather observer at Middle Wallop army air base in Hampshire. He later moved to ITV Weather to work behind the scenes preparing and sending bulletins for the ITV regional broadcasters.

Just after a year with ITV, Sean Batty weather presenter then moved to the BBC’s Television Centre in London to become a broadcast assistant. During his three year stint with the BBC, he became a regional broadcaster. He acted as cover for the nations and regions, presenting in England Wales and Northern Ireland.

STV:
His next move was in 2007. He joined STV who for a number of years had no-one presenting weather on the channel. Sean was now their one and only weather presenter and he has been there ever since.

At STV Sean Batty produces and presents twenty one broadcasts per day. Sean was instrumental in relaunching the weather graphics (done this three times now). He was also part of the graphic development and testing processes before going live.

Sean started presenting the Scottish Children’s Lottery in 2017, with draws being done on STV on a Monday and Thursday.

In 2019 he was given his own show ‘Sean’s Scotland‘. He took viewers on a journey around Scotland over the course of 7 weeks. The programme covered weather, environment plus the people and wildlife. 2021 also saw Sean presenting a new environmental programme for STV called Don’t Waste Scotland. In it Sean met and talked with inspirational people across Scotland who have put into practice, some brilliant ideas that are helping to improve Scotland’s environment.

Sean Batty weather has been a part of Sean’s life since he started out with a BBC Weather kit at the ripe old age age of seven. He has always had an obsession with the cold and snowy weather, hence why he now takes winter holidays to places like Iceland and Norway. Occasionally he will go a summer holiday, but summer has never really been his thing, apart from when he was at school and used to get 6 weeks off!

Sean will be promoting his Children’s weather book in 2024, The Worst Christmas Weather EVER! The book is due out in October.

Flying is a passion and Sean has been learning to fly at Glasgow Airport. He has been training for his PPL (Private Pilots License).
