Stuart Cassells is a leading strategist for tourism, hospitality and cultural experiences in Scotland, best known for his senior leadership roles at The Macallan and as the Founder and Managing Director of The Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Stuart’s career began in entertainment, where he founded a global events business specialising in Scottish performers, supported early on by a grant from the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust. He later created The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, scaling the brand into a globally recognised act with over £1m annual turnover. Alongside his music career, Stuart transitioned into premium spirits, holding roles such as Global Brand Development Manager at The Glenrothes before joining The Macallan as Global Head of Private Client Relationship Management and General Manager of the estate. In these roles, he helped redefine luxury distillery experiences while shaping international client strategy. Today, through Best Scot Ltd, he advises on positioning Scotland’s cultural and tourism assets for global audiences.
An award-winning professional, Stuart was named Global Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year in 2016 and Highly Commended Distillery Manager of the Year in 2015 by Icons of Whisky. His earlier achievements include becoming the first bagpiper to win the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2005. As frontman of The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, he led the group to victory on the UK television show ‘When Will I Be Famous’ and secured Scottish Live Act of the Year titles. Stuart has produced albums exceeding one million global sales and released his solo album ‘Blown Away’, with sleeve notes by Phil Collins.
Beyond business and music, Stuart has extensive media experience, regularly appearing on major programmes including ‘Good Morning America’ and BBC broadcasts. He also served for seven years as a stand-in presenter on BBC Radio Scotland, hosting flagship shows such as ‘Travelling Folk’, ‘Pipeline’ and ‘The Reel Blend’, as well as his own series ‘A Bit of a Blaw’. Educated with an MBA, a BA in Music and training from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Stuart combines commercial acumen with creative credibility.
