Laura progressed rapidly, winning her first European Cup race in Winterberg in 2010 before being selected for the UK national skeleton team the same year. She made her World Cup breakthrough during the 2014-15 season and secured her first World Cup victory in 2015. Her Olympic success followed in PyeongChang in 2018, before she represented Team GB again at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Laura concluded her competitive career on a high with a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships in St. Moritz before announcing her retirement in 2025.

Laura’s achievements have been recognised both within and beyond sport. In 2022, she received an honorary Master of Science degree from the University of Chester in recognition of her contribution to British sport and elite performance. Her induction into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame in 2025 further cemented her legacy as one of Wales’ most accomplished athletes. Alongside her sporting accolades, Laura has become a respected broadcaster and commentator, including working with Olympic Broadcasting Services during the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in 2026.
